The role of the Supply Planner is instrumental in ensuring that a company's products are available to customers in a timely and efficient manner, ultimately contributing to customer satisfaction and business success.
At UniFirst, the Supply Planner is responsible for coordinating and optimizing the supply chain operations to meet customer demand while minimizing costs and maintaining an efficient inventory level. This role involves analyzing demand forecasts, managing inventory, collaborating with suppliers, and overseeing production schedules.
In this role, the Supply Planner is responsible working cross functionally within the Supply Chain and with leadership stakeholders to execute the optimal supply response based on shared demand forecasts, while reacting to business needs as necessary on a weekly basis.
Principal Responsibilities include:
  • Inventory Management: Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing carrying costs and excess inventory. Monitor inventory levels, track product life cycles, and initiate action plans for surplus or obsolete inventory.
  • Forecast Distribution: Review, analyze, and release replenishment forecast to Third Party Vendors(3PV) and Full Package Contractors monthly. Identify supplier gaps and work with the sourcing team to mitigate risk.
  • Supplier Coordination: Interact with sourcing to ensure timely and accurate delivery of finished goods in accordance with forecasted requirements. Provide critical inputs to sourcing for managing supplier performance, negotiating contracts, and addressing any issues related to quality, pricing, or delivery.
  • Order Management: Process and release planned orders/requisitions to sourcing based on demand forecast, inventory levels, and supplier lead time. Coordinate order fulfillment and ensure timely shipment and delivery of products to customers.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as demand planning, product support/operations, sales, marketing, production, and logistics to align supply chain activities with organizational goals and objectives. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates on supply chain status, potential issues, and solutions.
  • Performance Analysis and Improvement: Analyze supply chain performance metrics such as fill rates, order accuracy, on-time delivery, and inventory turnover. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in supply chain planning and inventory management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and trends to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in using supply chain planning software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, Microsoft Office Suite. Oracle Cloud experience a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
